The oldest surviving photo was taken by Joseph Nicéphore Niépce in 1826 taken from a window in Saint-Loup-de-Varennes, France. It is in the Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center in Austin, Texas.
The picture in my opinion isn't, by itself, very interesting, but considering that it is one of the first successful photographs makes it very important in my mind.
